Since Valentine's Day is right around the corner I was thinking about a project that I could do to use my favorite red cardstock of all time...Stardream Metallic Jupiter (Red)!!! I loved it for Christmas AND I love it for Valentine's Day!!! I was going through my die stash and happened on a heart bag by Sizzix. This is a project that can be used to hold tiny bits of treats for any occasion. However, the die is discontinued and is very difficult to find now. So I decided that I would share with you how I used the die and give you the pattern so you could replicate the project if you like!!
For the base of the bag I used Cougar White Heavy 160# Cardstock which was absolutely the perfect weight for the project. You can see in one of the pictures below that I tried on a medium chipboard which cracked when I attempted to fold the score lines. I then used the Stardream Metallic Red to cover the base, added a silver key and white bow, along with a pipe cleaner handle and this little jewel was ready for a few Valentine's Day treats!!!!
And a side view which shows that I indented the sides of the bag and added a red band...kinda makes it look like a typical Valentine candy box...don't you think?
First I will give you the pattern which you can size to any measurements you wish. Just remember that as you enlarge the bag, the sides will get deeper.
You will need to cut two of each piece and score according to the score lines. Here are the measurements for the one I made using the die but you can make it just as easily (well maybe NOT as easily...haha) by hand cutting the parts.
The end tabs on the side pieces will help to align the sides. These were the chipboard cuts which cracked when I attempted to fold the score lines.
After I finished the bag I realized that it could certainly be used for more occasions than just Valentine's day. I covered several hearts to give you some ideas although I didn't have time to make them all into heart bags.
For the first one I used Double Sided Collage Writing Origami Paper, adding a Brown Bag Kraft band with bronze buckle and clip. The next one is for a more formal occasion and is Silver Glitter Paper, topped with a black silk bow and a bit of bling. The baby girl one is just the Cougar White, adding a gingham bow, baby bracelet, and safety pins. The next two are just DP and a tiny bit of embellies.
