Welcome to Day 2 of the Holiday Countdown series for 2015! It's Annie, and I wanted to share some tips for quickly creating last minute Christmas cards that look like they took forever to make. I don't know about you, but I always seem to receive a card from someone who wasn't on my list from the year before and I have to scramble to get something together before Christmas passes by. I count myself lucky to receive these unexpected pieces of happy mail in the digital age, so I always want to return the favor by sending something handmade.
Die-cutting always makes for quick cards...and these days dies are so intricate that they can make your cards look super classy too. Add in a little foil, and your card instantly looks expensive and trendy! Here I've cut a card layer from red foil cardstock, an ornate frame from gold foil cardstock, and a gorgeous sentiment from green foil cardstock.
If you want to add a stamped image to your card, choose a simple one that requires very little coloring or choose a quick coloring technique. Watercolor can be really fast and loose, so I colored this small, simple image with water-based sparkle pens for super fast shading and tons of sparkle.
Dry embossing is one more way to add lots of interest to your card in very little time. Here, I added a few embossed snowflakes to a panel made from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock.
To assemble my card, I adhered the white embossed panel to my red foil mat layer with tape runner and popped my other elements up on top with foam tabs. I love how the foil cardstock really glams up my quick card!
