Watercolor Flowers for a Friend

Happy Summer everyone! Can you believe how quickly 2016 is speeding along? Sometimes in the hustle and bustle-crazy speed of life these days, we need to take a moment out to breath and do something to recharge our souls. For me, watercoloring is just the ticket....

Today I'm sharing a card I watercolored and paired up with the bright and cheery colors from the Pop Tones line of cardstock.

I started by heat embossing random stamping of flowers from one of my stamp sets. I used white embossing powder that will resist the watercolor. I used Strathmore watercolor paper for the base; beginning with a piece larger than I needed so that I'd have some excess to tape down and cut off when I'm done painting.

Using my Zig Clean Color markers and a water brush, I colored in the flowers with one of my favorite color combos - orange and purple.

I trimmed down the finished watercolor card front to 4 x 5 1/4 and added it to a card base made from Pop Tones Orange Fizz. You can buy entire packs of each of your favorite colors, an assorted pack with all the colors in the entire line and you can also get pre made cards... they are already cut and scored!

For my sentiment, I continued the white heat embossing on a piece of Grape Jelly cardstock, again from the Pop Tones line.

I love how this card came together and that I was able to give myself some quiet time to make it and now I can get it in the mail to someone special!
