Quick Christmas Gift Tags With Inlaid Die-cutting

Looking for a way to create elegant gift tags for all of those Christmas presents, but don't have a ton of time?  These inlaid die-cut tags were made in minutes with a few simple dies and shimmery Stardream Metallic Cardstocks.

Start by trimming a piece of Antique Gold cardstock as well as scrap cardstock to 2" by 4.25".  Using a punch like the one above (or just scissors and a hole punch), cut a tag shape from both pieces.

Die-cut a shape or sentiment from the Antique Gold tag (be sure to save all of the bits and pieces!) and cover the entire piece of scrap cardstock with 0.5" Score-tape.  Die-cut the same shape or sentiment from a coordinating color like Onyx Stardream Metallic Cardstock.

Adhere the Antique Gold tag to the scrap cardstock tag, ensuring that plenty of adhesive shows through the holes, and then press the Onyx die-cut sentiment pieces into the tag like a puzzle.  I use a white waxy crayon to pick up the tiny bits and place them in the appropriate holes.

If you cut the sentiment from an identical Onyx tag, you can place the Antique Gold sentiment in it to form two opposite tags in almost the same amount of time!

These tags were created using snowflake shapes instead of a sentiment and Bluebell and Crystal cardstocks.  To flatten them even further and make them look like shimmery patterned paper, I ran them through my die-cutting machine inside of some scrap paper (with no die).  I also stamped a tiny sentiment on each in pigment ink and added clear embossing powder.

By using a couple of different colors of cardstock, you can start to make even more interesting tags.  For the reindeer tag, I've chosen Lapis Lazuli, Copper, and Coral cardstocks, and for the present tag, I've chosen Mars, Crystal, and Emerald cardstocks.

Detailed dies will take a bit more time to piece together, but create gorgeous tags as well!  I hope you found this inlaid tag project inspiring and thanks so much for stopping by today.  You can visit the CutCardStock store to purchase any of the supplies showcased today and remember that Stardream Metallic Cardstocks are on sale this month!
