What I love about the Pop Tones card stock is how each color has the power to stand on its own and the card stock lends itself to being able to withstand lots of techniques. But I've found it's especially great for ink blending.

So for this project, I thought I might try for a monotone look with only tiny pops of contrasting color.

I started with "Sno Cone" (turns out I was using "Spearmint" last week and I even put the wrong name in the video without a way to edit, so sorry for the mix up!") I prepped the surface with an anti-static tool and used a ZIG emboss brush & scroll pen (brush side) to write the "best friend" sentiment. Then, applied Ranger clear embossing powder and heated with my craft tool to melt completely. 

Using a mini round ink blender and Distress ink in mermaid lagoon, I started in the middle of the sentiment and blended outwards. The ink stayed nice and dark in the middle and diffused outward so that the words could be easily read.

For added effect I used water droplets to activate the ink, shadowed the typography with a dark blue Tombow marker, and added highlights with a silver Sharpie paint pen.

Once the card was trimmed and added to the card base (one of many light pink pre-folded cards I have in my stash from Michael's) I saw that the Pink Lemonade pop tones card stock matched the border perfectly. So I hand-cut little hearts and popped them on with ranger multi medium matte, then added gloss with Triple Thick and a small brush.



Final touch was a couple of dashed grounding lines, using my Sakura while gelly roll.

And she's ready to send, whenever a friend is in need.
