A Plum and Silver Wedding Card

A Plum and Silver Wedding Card

Weddings. Don’t you just love them? All the people, dresses, cakes, traditions, and decoration options often make me seriously reconsider a career as a wedding planner… except I’m terrible at planning. 😃

So, I just browse through Pinterest and pin all the things I like in the hopes that I can use them for inspiration for my projects.

One of my favorite color combos this year is silver and dark purple. And I’m not talking a muted silver either - all out glittered ornaments and the deepest of plums. It looks so elegant and festive!

The card I made today draws from that color palette and is post office friendly (with an extra slip of paper over the card). Of course, you can swap out the colors to match any wedding and send it along to congratulate the happy couple.

You’ll need:

To start, cut a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4-inch card base from Basis White 110lb cardstock. Then, cut a 5 3/8 x 4 1/8-inch rectangle from the Silver Glitter cardstock. Next, run a piece of Cougar White cardstock through your die cut machine with the largest Stitched Rectangle die.

To finish up the cutting, run your stitched rectangle piece through your die cutting machine again, except this time place the Corbel Heart off center to the left (as shown).

I wanted to use foam to pop up the die cut cardstock piece, but I knew that wasn’t going to work at the post office in a regular envelope. Instead, I opted to use Scor-Tape to adhere the white panel directly on the Silver Glitter cardstock.

Have I told you how much I love this glitter paper? I think I did, but just in case I wanna remind you that this paper is the real deal. It’s just as glittery as loose glitter without all the mess - no flaking here! 😃

Next, I added the ribbon.

If you’re like me and terrible at tying straight bows around a card panel, try this:

Pull a long length of ribbon (about 1.5x the length you need to go around the paper) and tie the ends together first to make a beautiful bow on a loop. Figure out where the bow should land on the card front, then snip the loop open and wrap it around the edges and secure with adhesive to hide the ends.

I know, it’s cheating, but whatever gets the job done, right?

The reason I did the ribbon first is that I wanted to use it to line up my sentiment. You may prefer to stamp first if you like, just be sure your ribbon doesn’t cover your stamped area. The ink I used is called Grape Jelly, and it’s a super nice shade of dark purple. The Cougar cardstock produces some lovely crisp images, too! Check out those tiny letters:

To finish off the card, I added some purple and lilac sequins and adhered my completed panel to the card base.
