Another Look: Summer Melon Picnic Pockets

Looking for a cute and simple way to dress up your next summer barbecue?  Watermelon decor is super trendy right now and these melon-themed picnic pockets are perfect for holding utensils or some summer treats for your guests.

Start by trimming pieces of Emerald and Fairway Stardream Metallic Cardstocks to 5" x 11".  Trim Gold and Pink Sapphire Mirrisparkle Glitter Cardstock to 3.5" x 7".

Place the long side of the piece of the Fairway Stardream Metallic Cardstock against the left edge of a scoreboard and score the entire length at 0.5" and 4.5".  Then rotate the cardstock so that the short edge is against the left side of the scoreboard and score it at 3.5".  Repeat for the piece of Emerald Stardream Metallic Cardstock.

Using a paper trimmer or a pair of scissors, trim down the long score lines on each side of your cardstock until you reach the score line at 3.5".  Create tab edges along this bottom section as shown by placing slanted cuts on either end.

Round the top corners of the Stardream Metallic Cardstocks and all four corners of the Mirrisparkle Glitter Cardstocks with a 1/2" corner rounder.

Adhere the glitter cardstock to the top of the metallic cardstock with tape runner (pair the pink glitter cardstock with the dark green metallic cardstock for watermelon and the gold glitter cardstock with light green metallic cardstock for honeydew melon).

Fold the metallic cardstock on its scorelines, apply liquid adhesive or Score-Tape to the two tabs and fold upward to form your pocket.

To create the seeds, punch several hearts out of Gold Bright Foil Cardstock with a mini heart punch and cut each in half with detail scissors.

Arrange the seeds in your desired pattern and adhere to the glitter cardstock with Glue Dots (these work wonders for adhering embellishments to glitter cardstock!).

To use the pockets as party favors, die-cut small tag shapes out of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock and stamp a coordinating greeting on them with Versafine black ink.

Attach the tags to the pockets by punching a hole in the top and stringing them onto a pretty picnic-ready gingham bow.

Fill your pockets with a napkin and plastic utensils for a fun way to get your barbecue started or try a handful of refreshing summer treats like flavored drink packets, mini sunscreen, and watermelon lollipops for a cute party favor.
