Warm Winter Wishes

Welcome back! Over the past couple of weeks we have been focusing on more winter-themed projects, but I have one more Christmas card up my sleeve! I hope you don’t mind if I share it with you today. It’s the perfect project if you have 30 minutes and a cup of your favorite hot beverage, and it uses only a few materials.

I wanted something glittery, yet elegant when I started this card. I chose Stardream Metallic Cardstock in Lapis Lazuli to work on, and Mirrisparkle Glitter Cardstock in Silver for the snowflakes.

The first this I did was use a punch (Aspen Flurry, Martha Stewart) to cut out a bunch of snowflakes, then die cut a 4.25 x 5.5-inch stitched rectangle (Large Stitched Rectangles, Lawn Fawn) out of the blue cardstock.

You can sort of see the iridescence in the Stardream cardstock there, but it’s so much more impressive in person!

To figure out where I wanted the tree shape, I used a centering ruler to mark the top of the tree about 1 inch from the top edge, and the lower corners 1.5 inches from the bottom edge. I spaced those corners 3 inches apart and adhered tiny snowflakes where the tips were. To make sure I ended up with a somewhat treelike shape, I very lightly penciled a line connecting the corners.

This next part is the fun stuff! All you need to do is fill in the triangle with snowflakes. Use glue like Tombow Mono Multi-Purpose Glue, so you have a little bit of play to position them just right before the pieces stick.

It can be a bit of a puzzle in some places, but the trick is to not space them too closely together. That way, if you have some gaps that are a little too large, you can dab a silver dot or two with a Silver Uniball Signo Gel Pen.

To finish up the card, I heat embossed the sentiment with silver embossing powder (Ranger Industries) and adhered the panel to an A2 card base.

There you have it! I’ll be back later this month with a wintery project to show you. If you liked this post, please share the love by pinning to Pinterest!
