Marbled Valentine's Day Gift Box

For me, nothing says Valentine's Day like a handful of those classic conversation hearts...so when I was searching for a unique gift box to make, I immediately fell in love with this heart box cutting file.  Super simple to cut and assemble, you can make a ton of the basic design for a classroom of kiddos or enlarge and embellish just one special box using gorgeous cardstock from the CutCardStock store.

Start by cutting your main gift box shape from Bazzill Marble Wax Lips Cardstock with your Silhouette machine (similar dies can be found for manual die-cutting machines if needed).  This cardstock is the perfect weight for 3D projects and its subtle marble pattern makes any papercraft look just a little more elegant.  Then, cut the window embellishment pieces from Stardust White and Plasma Pink Astrobright Cardstock.

Assemble the box using a strong liquid glue like Tombow Mono Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I die-cut a "love" sentiment out of Mirrisparkle Gold Glitter Cardstock and added this and the heart window shapes with liquid glue as well.

To embellish the box even more, I die-cut several strips of different flower quilling shapes out of Stardust White, Plasma Pink, and Gamma Green Astrobright Cardstock.  For a little added dimension, I inked all of the die-cuts around the edges with red ink and a sponge dauber.

Add liquid glue to the bottom of each paper strip and roll the flower tightly with your fingers, a quilling tool, or even a bamboo skewer to create the quilled flower.  Curl the petals downward using a pencil or your fingertips.

Arrange the flowers and leaves on the bottom corner of the box and adhere them with liquid glue or glue dots.  I enlarged the box as much as I could when still cutting it from one piece of 12x12 cardstock, so the final piece is about four inches wide by six inches tall.  Fill the box with a small gift, a ton of conversation hearts, or any other sweet treats!

I hope you enjoyed this Valentine's Day gift box idea and thanks so much for stopping by today.  Be sure to visit the CutCardStock store to purchase any of the supplies showcased today and remember that Astrobright Cardstocks are on sale this month!
